We all struggle with limiting beliefs. The problem is that most of us aren’t even aware of these beliefs. We just go about our daily lives thinking that the grass is always greener on the other side, that some people are just luckier than us, or have more money than us, are smarter than us… the list of things you can tell yourself can go on and on. We accept the status quo and give up on our dreams. Who wants to be “just a dreamer”? The real question is: Why be disempowered, a “victim”, when you have the inner strength and wisdom to achieve greatness?
My quest to be a better me so I can be a better wife, friend, sister, daughter, entrepreneur…has led me to read many books. One book that has had great impact on me is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. Have you read it? It’s a quick read with some very powerful words of wisdom.
This book provides the basic road map to personal freedom, freedom from our programming and limiting belief system. Most of us aren’t even aware of our self talk and limiting beliefs and how significantly they impact and rule our lives. Have you ever wondered why some people accomplish anything they set their minds to while others spend their lives struggling? The people who accomplish miracles are often labeled as lucky. But is it really luck? Could their belief system and programming have something to do with it?
Our Limiting Beliefs Rule Our Lives
Our belief system is usually self limiting and fear based. It rules our minds, emotions, and therefore our lives. For the majority of us, our limiting beliefs don’t allow us to be our true selves. They stop us from being free, from finding true happiness, living our dream, and reaching our full potential.
The four agreements described in the book are a powerful code of conduct that are not new to any of us. They are simple, basic principles that can take us from victim to extraordinary.
Through awareness, patience, and time, we can exchange our old agreements for new ones. We can finally stop being helpless victims to our emotions and belief system and live the life that we were meant to live, a life of happiness, freedom, and prosperity.
If you aren’t living the life you desire and struggle with limiting beliefs, read this book. I hope it will have the impact that it had for me. Remember one of my favorite life lessons: “For things to get better, I have to get better. For things to change, I have to change.” Happy reading!
Thanks for sharing these resources.
I will have to check this book out! I have found that self growth is so important for things to start moving and changing in my own life. Things don’t just improve or get richer and better just by chance! Thanks for the review. I’ll look for it at the store!
