Sunwarrior is blog #4 in my “heart and soul” series. Sunwarrior is a company based in Mesquite, NV that offers the best vegan and vegetarian-friendly plant-based protein powders. I use their Warrior Blend Protein powder all the time in my smoothies and had it this morning in my carrot, apple, and ginger juice. It was delicious!
Like many of you, I like to know who I’m buying from, understand their business practices and philosophy. That’s why I asked Sunwarrior the following questions.
Sunwarrior Interview
Q. Do you use organic ingredients in your products?
A. Sunwarrior loves organic foods. We buy organic to stock our fridges and look for the best ingredients for our products. The majority of our ingredients are certified organic or organic compliant and we’re working on the few that are not.
Q. Do you use non-gmo ingredients in your products?
A. We are completely non-gmo. We won’t touch the stuff.
Q. Do you test on animals or use any animal-by products?
A. No and no. All our products are vegan, containing no animal products or by-products and we do not testing on animals, ever.
Q. How are you involved with the community or how do you give back to the community?
A. Sunwarrior is proud to give back each year by creating care kits for homeless shelters, sponsoring families for the holidays, and participating in events like charity 5ks.
Q. What makes you stand apart from your competitors or other companies?
A. Our amazing people are what set us apart from others. They have created a solid brand, beautiful design, powerful content, wonderful products, great customer service experiences, and they work harder than anyone out there to keep Sunwarrior growing, thriving, and succeeding.
Q. What is your company’s mission?
A. Our mission is clear and simple: illuminate body, mind, and planet. We rely on the wondrous plants of our world to provide only the healthiest ingredients, we educate and inspire people to turn back to nature for health and fitness answers, and we look for ways to improve the health of our world.
Q. What are the core values?
A. Sunwarrior is founded on eleven core values: Give Generously, Actively Adapt, Implement Illumination, Break Boxes, Harness Humility, Integrate Integrity, Readopt Responsibility, Foster Fun, Perform Passionately, Transcend Toil, and Savor the Strange. These are the essence of who we are, what we believe, and what we expect from ourselves. They are fun, even sometimes silly, but they inspire us and remind us to give, work hard, overcome obstacles, and remain humbly grounded with each new success.
Q. Is any part of your business sustainable, green or fair trade?
A. Sunwarrior tries to use sustainable and ecofriendly ingredients and packaging as often as possible. We just came out with new packaging that uses biodegradable bags and recyclable boxes.
Q. Do you recycle?
A. We only use glass jars for our smoothies, water, and beverage needs around our office so we are constantly reusing those rather than sending plastic to the landfills. We encourage our employees to reuse any materials, like scratch paper and more. We also recycle glass, plastic, cardboard, and paper. We’re lucky enough to be in a community that makes this fairly easy, just a short drive to dozens of drop off sites.
The History of Sunwarrior
Back in 2007, Sunwarrior was born on a warm Arizona evening during the Sedona Raw Spirit Festival. Two very different men with two different dreams met with one desire, to create a company and a product that would benefit mankind but not at the expense of the planet.
Nick Stern began juicing in his teens, earning him the nickname “NatureBoy” early on. In his twenties he competed as a body builder and played semi-pro sports. At the time, being an athlete meant consuming massive amounts of animal products and by-products. After his competitive career ended, his body felt toxic, racked with aches and pain. He turned back to a plant-based diet, the pain bled away, and Nick felt a renewed sense of wellness.
Denley Fowlke received his first true call to action when he became a father of twin girls just beginning their lives with serious, life-threatening conditions. He and his wife, Jan, embarked on a quest for the knowledge to save their children. Denley learned that many answers to health issues could be found in nutrition and nature. His daughters recovered, but his quest never ended.
The two men combined their dreams, their savvy business personalities, and their environmental consciousness to create Sunwarrior.
About Sunwarrior
Sunwarrior is a small, growing company that’s committed to making only the best plant-based supplements while elevating humanity and preserving the planet.
Their mission is to Illuminate Body, Mind, and Planet – and they strive to live those ideals in everything they do, from growing microgreens in their office to sourcing the finest ingredients from around the world.
They seek out the best sources of energy, the wondrous plants that capture light, and use them in their raw, natural state to overcome disease, raise the level of wellness, extend life, and reduce damage to the planet.
They believe that plants provide the cleanest and most powerful foods, rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and phytonutrients. Our bodies crave and need real food, especially when so much of what we eat is processed and void of their benefits and nutrition.
Quality Ingredients Free of All The Bad Stuff
All Sunwarrior proteins are gluten free and non-GMO. They are also clean and completely free of solvents, radiation, artificial flavors, artificial preservatives, artificial colors, soy, yeast, wheat, or added sugars.
Sunwarrior’s “Corporate” Culture
Sunwarrior’s staff training sessions aren’t just boring boardroom meetings like the ones I had when I worked for a large national bank. Lucky them! They have raw-food presentations, learn recipes, attempt juice fasts, take field trips to organic farms, and even get physically active with tai chi or maybe a friendly game of dodge ball. How cool is that?!
So, what do you think? Pretty cool, huh? I’m thrilled to be working with and consuming Sunwarrior. If you’ve never tried their delicious plant-based protein powder, check out my site for more info.
thanks for introducing to a company which produces non GMO products. the questions cover all aspects of a conscious consumer.
Thanks Amar! I appreciate it. I do ask a lot of questions from the companies I work with because if we don’t take care of our bodies, where are we going to live? 🙂
