I am wrapping up my third week of Sharon Otness’ Rev Up Your Radiance Summer Detox. I did the detox to cleanse my body and to figure out what I was eating that was causing me some minor stomach upset. I have to admit that weight loss was another aspect that I was looking forward to but just as an extra bonus. I have learned over the years that if you focus on healthy eating, you don’t need to diet.
The Positive “Diet”
Diet has a negative connotation. It’s something that you easily delay because of prior engagements. There always seems to be a reason to delay. My husband’s uncle used to do a one-month diet once a year. Guess which month he dieted in? Yep, you guess it. February. Why? Because it is the shortest month! But he engaged in healthy eating the rest of the year. It was only a way for him to counter-balance some of the excesses of the Christmas / New Year’s holidays he allowed himself.
Healthy Eating
In my experience, diets just don’t work. How could they? Yes, you can have great results while dieting but if you don’t change your ways indefinitely, how can you expect the results to last? The key to long term results is in healthy eating. Healthy eating is something you can easily start doing today and not something you do for 30-90 days. Healthy eating really needs to be a lifestyle choice. It may be something that you have to ease into because if you have a lot of habits to change, you’ll probably want to start with one habit and replace it with a healthier one.
I’ve been eating healthy for years but Sharon’s Summer Detox has made me discover eating in a whole new way. I am eating flavors that I haven’t had in years and food combinations that I’ve never tried. Even though the detox is intended to be only 15 days, I love my new way of eating so much that I can’t imagine going back to my old ways. I plan to continue doing the recipes for the detox indefinitely. I also have lost my once obsession for cheese. I haven’t had cheese in almost three weeks and don’t miss it at all. I’m telling you this because you may think you can’t live without that slice of cake or some other food but you’ll soon realize that your tastes change as you get healthier. Just take it one step at a time.
One way to eat healthy
I am now eating mostly fruit and vegetables, quinoa or brown rice, some fish, some organic chicken, and meat here and there and my body is rejoicing. As I mentioned earlier, this detox is about healthy eating but I am enjoying weight loss in the process. I am down 5.4 lbs and 6 inches in less than three weeks. I have been eating to my heart’s content, having fun in the kitchen again, and just feeling fabulous. There is no need to starve yourself or deprive yourself. That’s not what detoxing about. That is why I detox and stay away from all diets.
If you’re not at your ideal weight or if you want to cleanse your body, don’t waste your time with a diet. You need to change your daily habits. One easy way to do so is with a detox like Sharon’s Rev Up Your Radiance Summer Detox. It’s easy, fun, and hopefully will lead to a lifetime of healthy eating and weight management. Remember: a healthy body doesn’t gather fat!

With most diets in my life, I lost weight, only to gain it back. At one point, no matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to lose weight. Apparently my body was gaining fluid, and I didn’t know it. Right before I was diagnosed with cancer I – perhaps ironically – started to pay a lot more attention to things, and avoided gluten, and did some juicing. Even with fluid, I lost 10 pounds in a month. I now know a lot more than I want to about things, and even though a part of me thinks I should perhaps do things differently than I am, I am eating healthier than I ever have, and it’s no diet. It’s just living.
Hi Elizabeth, I am so sorry to hear about your cancer. I am delighted, however, to hear that you are avoiding gluten and juicing. What would you like to do differently than you are? If you’re interested, I can recommend great books and resources by doctors who discuss natural options for dealing with cancer. Good luck with your journey! It sure sounds like you’re on the right path.
Congrats on your successful detox! Because I have also been doing Sharon’s summer detox for a month now and have effortlessly lost 9 lbs, I agree completely, including not missing cheese or eggs at all. I had already eliminated gluten and dairy for the most part and am now feeling the benefits of eating mostly raw, too. I will never go back to my previous eating habits either, even though by most standards they were already very healthy. But this is even better and like you said, ust more fun, too!
I believe that I am a healthy eater (I don’t eat any meat and was a vegetarian for about 15 years, though I now eat fish) but I am still a bit heavier than my ideal weight. I’m not a great believer of diets (have you read the book “Dieting makes you fat”?) but I was very interested in the Summer Detox. I’m definitely going to give it a go!
Congrats to you Deb! I still don’t know where those 9 lbs came from but that’s awesome. It’s also awesome to have fun and take our health to a whole new level. It’s been a blast doing this with you. That is one of the perks of Sharon’s program. She has a Facebook page where everyone doing the detox can connect. What a friendly and supportive group who loves to share recipes, experiences, questions…
Hi Sue, good for you for being a healthy eater. I can totally relate to being heavier than my ideal weight even when eating healthy. I’ve even had nutritionists tell me that I eat healthier than they do. 🙂 I believe that the extra weight comes from toxicity. Our body is quite amazing. To protect vital organs, our bodies store toxins in fat cells. I always lose weight when I detox. Considering how many toxins we are exposed to, we need to detox on a regular basis. Good for you for doing something for yourself! You will love Sharon’s program. It’s easy, inexpensive, and fun. I look forward to connecting with you on her Facebook group page.
Thanks for stopping by!
