You may have heard that Epsom salt baths help muscle aches. Did you also know that Epsom salt is full of skin rejuvenating and bone-healthy magnesium? According to the National Academy of Sciences,
high rates of heart disease, osteoporosis, arthritis and joint pain, stroke, chronic fatigue and a number of other ailments are linked to our country’s magnesium deficiency epidemic.
I am just amazed how beneficial Epsom salt baths are for our health. According to the Epsom Salt Industry Council, here are some of Epsom salts wonderful benefits:
- Helps prevent heart disease and stroke – Epsom salt baths improve circulation, lower blood pressure, prevent blood clots, and maintain the elasticity of the arteries.
- Improves our body’s use of insulin – Proper amounts of magnesium and sulfate increase the effectiveness of insulin in our bodies, which reduces the risk or severity of diabetes.
- Eliminates toxins and heavy metals – Since our skin is so porous, adding the right minerals into your bath causes salts and harmful toxins to be pulled out of our bodies. For a detox bath, add two cups of Epsom Salt to your bath once a week and soak for ten minutes.
- Relieves stress and relaxes the body – Stress takes a serious toll on the body and drains it of magnesium. When you take an Epsom salt bath, it gets absorbed through the skin and replenish magnesium levels in the body. The magnesium then helps produce serotonin, a chemical within the brain that is responsible for feeling calm and relaxed.
- Relieves pain and muscle cramps – Epsom salt baths are known to reduce inflammation making it a great contender for sore muscles and migraine headaches.
- Prevents or eases migraine headaches
To help increase your magnesium levels, add two cups of Epsom salt and soak for at least twelve minutes. Do this three times weekly. Now you’ll be able to relax even more in the tub knowing that you’re doing your body good!
